WWE SmackDown May 16: R-Truth is set to take on John Cena, his ‘childhood hero’, at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The match was made official on the latest episode of SmackDown. This comes after Cena delivered an AA through a table to Truth at the Backlash press conference.

John Cena to take on R-Truth at SNME

Wade Barrett sat down for an interview with R-Truth on the latest episode on WWE SmackDown. During this segment, Truth spoke about being an admirer of the Cenation Leader. He added that the ‘the man’ who assaulted him after Backlash was not his idol.

He added that he is set to lock horns with him at Saturday Night’s Main Event and vowed to make him see sense.  This is not the first time Truth has crossed paths with John Cena. Many years ago, the two met in a singles match at Capitol Punishment. Truth also teamed up with The Miz to take on Cena and The Rock at Survivor Series 2011.

What happened at WWE Backlash?

Randy Orton and John Cena put on a compelling match at WWE Backlash. In the closing moments of the contest, ‘The Viper’ went for the punt kick but was interrupted by R-Truth. Orton nailed him with an RKO. The distraction, however, gave Cena an opportunity to hit his opponent with a low blow and the title to pick up the win.
