The series was officially renewed on 28th May, 2025.

Adapted from the book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer by Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhury, Season 1 gave us a raw, dramatised look inside one of India’s most notorious prisons. It went deeper into the psyches of both inmates and those who guard them. Zahan Kapoor played Sunil Kumar Gupta, a young officer walking into the chaos of Tihar with hopes of making a difference.

The show didn’t flinch from showing brutality, injustice, survival politics, and even brief flickers of hope in the darkest corners of the system. So, what’s the word on Black Warrant Season 2?
Here’s the good news: Netflix, along with creators Vikramaditya Motwane, Applause Entertainment, and Confluence Media, have confirmed that Black Warrant will return for Season 2. There’s no official date yet, but if we go by the production pace and Netflix’s schedule pattern, late 2025 to early 2026 is the most likely window for its return. Season 1 dropped on 10th January this year.
