Sinners emerges as a blockbuster

Michael B Jordan’s Sinners, which opened in theatres last month, has proved to be a sensational blockbuster at the worldwide box office. According to Box Office Mojo, a trade portal, the thriller earned $316 million worldwide during its full run. Of this, $240 million came from the US markets. The remaining $76 million, meanwhile, came from markets elsewhere.

The film received mixed reviews with critics praising the performances but panning the execution. The average word-of-mouth, however, did dilute its appeal among the younger audience. Sinners’ modest budget of less than $100 million too worked in its favour, making it a profitable business.

Sinners is a horror thriller helmed by Ryan Coogler. The film centres on two twins who find themselves in a difficult situation when a vampire makes his way to their hometown. It features Michael B Jordan in two distinct roles.
